Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 Nay, I swear by the accusing soul (that this Scripture is true). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asketh: When will be this Day of Resurrection? 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Ours it is to gather it, and to recite it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 looking towards their Lord; 23 And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, 24 dreading some great affliction. 25 Nay, when (the soul) reaches to the collar bone (i.e. up to the throat in its exit), 26 And they will say, “Is there any one – any magician?” 27 and when he thinks it is the time of departure 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
