The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall be made to pass away, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 So where are you going? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
