The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
