Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
