The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day resplendent 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And accepts the best, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
