The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
