Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture, in Arabic that haply ye may understand. 3 And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you, for that you are a prodigal people? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 But never yet came a prophet to them without their deriding him 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 If you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the earth?" they will answer: "The Mighty and All-knowing created them," 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 It is He who has sent down water from the sky in a known measure by which He has given life to the dead earth. In the same way will you also be resurrected. 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 That ye mount firmly on the backs thereof, and then may remember the favour of your Lord when ye mount thereon, and may say: hallowed be He Who hath subjected this unto us, and we for it were not fit. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 Yet they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate! 15
