Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: peace! he said: peace! people unknown. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 So We evacuated everyone who was a believer there, 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 But he turned to his counsellors, and said: "He is a magician or lunatic." 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Thamud. They were told: “Enjoy yourselves for a while.” 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
