Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Reality? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 THE LIE gave [the tribes of] Thamud and 'Ad to [all tidings of] that sudden calamity! 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 and the Ad were destroyed by a furiously raging wind-storm 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And Firon and those before him and the overthrown cities continuously committed sins. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a lofty garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 Such people will be told, "Eat and drink with pleasure as the reward for what you did in the past". 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Oh, would that this [death of mine] had been the end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None shall eat it but the sinners. 37
