Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said: O my Lord! surely I have called my people by night and by day! 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And whenever I have called them that Thou mayest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, cover themselves with their garments, and persist and are puffed up with pride: 7 I called to them clearly, 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 ‘He will send down abundant rain for you from the sky.’ 11 rain from the sky, 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens, one above another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
