Nay, by the Moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens they will question 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
