The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
