The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
تشير بداية ونهاية كل سورة الى السور المنزلة قبلها و بعدها. يمكنك الضغط على أي منها للذهاب إليها.
The beginning and end of every Surah mention the Surahs sent down before and after. You can click or tap on either one to go there.
