The prople of Lout (Lot) (those dwelt in the towns of Sodom in Palestine) belied the Messengers. 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no hire therefor; my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 164 Do you, in the world, want to have carnal relations with males 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted." 167 [Lot] exclaimed: "Behold, I am one of those who utterly abhor your doings!" 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and all his people, 170 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 171 Then We utterly destroyed the others. 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
