Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And cushions ranged 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
