The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
