۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 And besides them will be chaste women, restraining their glances, with big eyes (of wonder and beauty). 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 EXCEPT for God's true servants, [most people are apt to go astray.] 74
