He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attend to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
