The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a Great Day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
