The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 And by oath of the moon when it follows the sun 2 by the day, when it displays it, 3 And [by] the night when it covers it 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 To a happy state shall indeed attain he who causes this [self] to grow in purity, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 And the apostle of God had to tell them: "This is God's she-camel, let her drink." 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
