When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
