And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 "'Now, then, we have none to intercede (for us), 100 and no sincere friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
