The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
