Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
