Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every backbiter, slanderer 1 Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); 2 Does he think that his wealth will prolong his stay on earth forever? 3 Nay, he shall be thrown into the Crusher. 4 And what do you know what the Crusher is? 5 It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled, 6 Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). 7 Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
