The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 and purify your robes, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 and who still desires more. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
