Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 On that Day, man will be told of all that he has sent before and what he has left behind. 13 Aye! man against himself shall be an enlightenment. 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 And so when We recite it, follow its recitation attentively; 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking toward their Lord; 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
