The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
