And indeed, [it was for this reason that] Noah cried unto Us - and how excellent was Our response: 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 and caused his offspring to endure [on earth]; 77 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 78 Peace be with Noah among all men in the worlds. 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ AND, BEHOLD, of his persuasion was Abraham, too, 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 What think you then of the Lord of all Being?' 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 So they turned away from him, and departed. 90 He turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand. 93 Thereupon the people came running to him. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 "While Allah has created you and what you make!" 96 They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 They wanted to harm him, but We humiliated them all. 98 And he said: "I am going away to my Lord who will show me the way. 99 [And he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Bestow upon me the gift of [a son who shall be] one of the righteous!" 100 Then We gave him the good tidings of a prudent boy; 101 And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast." 102 Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 You have fulfilled the dream (vision)!" Verily! Thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram); 107 And We perpetuated (praise) to him among the later generations. 108 'Peace be upon Abraham' 109 As such We recompense the gooddoers. 110 He is indeed one of Our high ranking, firmly believing bondmen. 111 We gave him the glad news of the birth of Isaac, one of the righteous Prophets. 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. Among their descendants are some who do good, but some who wrong themselves. 113
