The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
