The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say, 'Will you reform yourself? 18 "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
