The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
