The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
