Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
