Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
