Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Quran in Arabic for people who know. 3 Announcing happy news and warnings. And yet most of them are averse and do not listen, 4 And they say, "Our hearts are encased against that to which you call us, and there is a heaviness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us, so do as you will and so shall we." 5 Say thou: "I am but a man like you: It is revealed to me by Inspiration, that your Allah is one Allah: so stand true to Him, and ask for His Forgiveness." And woe to those who join gods with Allah,- 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
