The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' 22
