The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
