The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
