Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
