The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 or orders piety? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
