Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and do not put me to shame on the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
