and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And We gave them of signs that in which there was a clear trial. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 "There is nothing but our first death, and we shall not be resurrected. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
