AND IT IS We who have built the universe with [Our creative] power; and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it. 47 And the earth -- We spread it forth; O excellent Smoothers! 48 And We created pairs of everything that you may contemplate. 49 Therefore hasten to God; truly, I am sent by Him to give you clear warning. 50 And set not up with God another god; I am a clear warner from Him to you. 51 Likewise, no Messenger came to those before them, but they said: "A sorcerer or a madman!" 52 Have they, perchance, handed down this [way of thinking] as a legacy unto one another? Nay, they are people filled with overweening arrogance! 53 So leave them, [O Muhammad], for you are not to be blamed. 54 And warn, for warning profiteth believers. 55 I created the jinn and humans for nothing else but that they may serve Me; 56 [But withal,] no sustenance do I ever demand of them, nor do I demand that they feed Me: 57 it is God who is the great Sustainer, the Mighty One, the Invincible. 58 And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their predecessors, so let them not impatiently urge Me. 59 Therefore woe to those who disbelieve because of their day which they are threatened with. 60
