The Stars (Al-Najm)
62 verses, revealed in Mecca after Absoluteness (Al-Ikhlaas) before He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the star of the pleiades when it has dipped 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 Indeed, he saw him another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Close to which is the Everlasting Paradise. 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
