The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 And extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
