He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
