The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and the night that falls, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 For whoever wills among you to take a right course. 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
