The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 Those who deny the Day of Justice. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 The seal thereof will be Musk: And for this let those aspire, who have aspirations: 26 And mixed with water of Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On high thrones, watching. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
