and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial. 33 Lo! these, forsooth, are saying: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
